Tuesday, May 3, 2016ALL Planning Days
Event: ALL Intake 1 - Yr 1 Planning Days & Yr2/3 Evaluation & Self Review Day & Planning Workshop Date: Tuesday 5 & Wednesday 6 April 2016 Venue: Holiday Inn Rotorua Location: 10 Tryon St, Whakarewarewa, Rotorua 3043 Times: Day 1 : 9.00am - 3.15pm (tea and coffee will be available from 8.30am) Day 2 : 8.30am - 3.15pm I attended these two day workshops as the Lead Teacher from Kio Kio School for our inclusion in the ALL (second year of the programme). Our staff has changed majorly since taking part in ALL in 2015. Our Lead Teacher has left so I have taken over this role. The workshops were about.... *updating information and key messages about Programmes for Students (PfS) based on the 2016 ALL Theory of Action to ensure clarity and understanding during the 'deeper thinking' and 'embedding' phase of ALL. *reviewing successes and challenges from the year 1 of the programme(2015) *Considering further innovations in teaching for acceleration *beginning to design and plan the roles of the ALL lead teacher and the SIM (Supplementary Inquiry Team) in transferring learnings wider across the school *Discussing effective curriculum and achievement planning I found the days very motivational and although I attended the first day on my own (second day with the Principal), I gained a lot of ideas to try and questions that I went away to ponder. 2 key ideas/questions from the first day included 1/ the introduction of Quick Writes in our school to ......support our reluctant writers in particular boys/give writing more of exposure in our school 2/ the idea of using the funding to support our teachers through releasing TEACHERS to mentor other teachers rather than paying teacher aides as per 2015. Leading on from these workshops will be 1/a presentation/staff meeting back at school with All teachers to update and get them on board with ALL for 2016 2/further professional development based on ALL eg for collecting targeted learners information etc
